Welcome to SIGIT

Subject Information Gateway in Information Technology (SIGIT) is the first full-fledged subject information gateway exclusively in the field of Information Technology (IT). It is an effective and efficient way to provide easy access to quality information on the Internet on Information Technology to meet the information requirements of the scientific and academic community in the digital era. The content rage of SIGIT is almost every area of Information Technology like e-journals, e-books, IT schools and their curriculum, databases, free as well as open source software, research projects, electronic theses and dissertations, forthcoming conferences/workshops, fellowships and grants, training programmes in IT, etc.

SIGIT will cater the information needs of the specialists who are directly or indirectly concerned with IT as a subject or an activity. It will be also useful for scientists, academicians, researchers, authors, students, etc. who are engaged in IT based study/research work. We work hard to keep updated the Gateway resources and keep on adding new & innovative features.

SIGIT is developed at AMU, Aligarh, India and sponsored by NSTMIS, DST, Government of India.

AMU occupies an exalted position among Indian Universities and its contribution to nation building is in no way inferior to the best among the lot. With more than 30000, students, about 1400 teachers and some 6000 non-teaching staff on its rolls, it has 12 faculties comprising a wide spectrum of academic disciplines (95 departments, 5 institution and 13 centres) and 18 halls of residence with 73 hostels. The University offers 325 courses.

The National Science and Technology Management Information System (NSTMIS), a division of Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India, has been entrusted with the task of building the information base on a continuous basis on resources devoted to scientific and technological activities for policy planning in the country.
